well i gave her up for dead BUT she * back stronger than ever i owe you guys that helped me through this a great big THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!! i bought a new upper intake and kept my fingers crossed that the rest of my motor was still ok .and other than playing with the fuel injectors for about an hour she is working great.back to the 400.00 i also had to replace my belt tensioner assembly i sort of broke it.thanks again you guys when i came home today i was planning on tearing it back downand replacing head gaskets but i checked here first to see if anyone had posted a reply and i forget who it was that asked if i had replaced the upper intake unit and said it was possible the heads could be bad but not likely saved me alot of extra work it made me rexamine everything from yesterdayi remembered seeing the stove pipe hole all charred inside but i didnt know if it was supposed to be like that or not so i assumed the gaskets were the main problem i guess i learned alot in the last few days i dont usualy work on cars this new i like the ones that you can open the hood and see the motor and climb rite in there to work on them.im presently building a 1955 jag xk 140 roadster for a friend of the family its a little less complicated than the bonneville the white smoke i was seeing from the head must have been a small exhaust leak because my dexcool level hasnt went down in the time ive driven the car tonite and my heat guage is just below 90

Good for you. Glad you got it fixed. The external leak was coming from the perforated upper underneath the TB gasket and down the front of the engine. Now get the Dex out of it and replace it with "mixes with any color-type" coolant as soon as you can afford to. Make sure you have all the air bled out of your cooling system.
