Code Retrieval with paper clip - Possible with a 1995 Bonne?
Hi,
I've been a long time lurker on this forum and it has been wealth of information. I hope someone can answer a couple of questions for me. I did a search and I didn't find a definte answer. Is it possible to use the paper clip technique to retrieve error codes from a 95 Bonneville. I have a 16 pin connector under the dash. Also is my car OBD I or OBD II? Or OBD I with the OBD II connector? I've owned the car since new and it now has 128,000 miles on it. It recently started idling rough and Ithe check engine light came on. I'm hoping to determine the problem. Thanks for any help.
Sincerely,
Leif W.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I really appreciate the informative answer. I think I'll just take the car to the dealer. Hopefully it won't be a big problem. On that note, has anyone used the Pontiac dealer in Bedford, NY?

Just thought I'd post a follow up in case someone has this problem in the future. I took the car to the dealership and it turns out that the EGR valve wasn't working properly. I'll be picking up the car tonight. The bill came to $350 which includes thenew valve and installation.
