Default the check oil level light is on

the light comes on all the time and the oil pressure gauge is always maxed out. would it be a bad oil pressure sensor that would caues it?

The oil pressure sensor is independent of the level sensor.

The oil pressure maxed out is probably the oil pressure sensor. Part is about $15 and is located in the area of the oil filter.

The oil level sensor is located on the front of the oil pan toward the radiator.

I would bet so. Make sure to get a mechanical guage on there to verify.
