Default "Check oil level light"

I have a 1996 SE model, why do i get the "Check oil level" idiot light every time i start the car, it disappears usually after a minute or so of operation. i checked my oil level and it'* fine.

I have the same problem with my 96 SSE. The oil gets checked everytime I fill up the gas tank and it is always fine. My dad said it must just be a problem with the sending unit. Unless it is really bothering you, just check the oil regularly and keep an eye on the temperature gauge.

thanks for the replies, i should mention my driveway is on a slight incline, but i have been getting the caution light even when started the car on a level surface
