Default Check gauge light wont go off

I have a 94' Bonneville SSE and about 5 minutes into the ride my check gauges light will come on. But the gauges show normal stats. I have to replace the bearings in the AC but I dont think that would do it. Any ideas?

Get it scanned. I can think of 50 causes.

Scan..

Are you supercharged or not? That will also help. Please put your year and model in your signature. Thanks

Isn't he talking about the Check Gauges light rather Check Engine light? I thought the Check Gauges light was supposed to tell you about stuff like low fuel, etc.

The check gauges light will tell you any time the PCM sees something it'* been told is bad etc. to draw your attention to the gauge and see the problem Since there is no apparent problem according to the gauge and most of our sensors for the gauges are independent of the PCM sensors, a pcm sensor could have gone bad. Scanning should tell which sensor the pcm is setting the check gauges light for.

There are other reasons that it might set as well. Say the alternator on an SSEi... instead of an volt gauge the SSEi gets the boost gauge in it'* place.

You need an OBD1 scanner with an OBD2 cable capable of scanning 94/95 GM vehicles. Some of us have them, but you have to pray we're nearby or you're off to the dealer.

You MUST scan or we can't help you in any way other than guessing.
