Default Check Engine light.........

In following advice from the forum I have been chasing an intermittant Check Engine light which has also led to wierd tranny symptoms...........as a disclaimer, I have been delivering flyers the last few days so the car (95 SE) has been idling quite a lot with really short 2 block jaunts between deliveries for periods of up to almost 3 hours. The temp guage shows a hair above 220 with both fans running and this is when the CEL light comes on and the tranny shudders/stutters and double shifts kinda.........once the car cools back down it almost goes away..............is the tranny acting up related to the hot motor and/or the CEL light or both?

I have already installed new wires and 02 sensor and dropped the tranny pan and changed filter with new fluid............magnet was pretty clean and fluid was clean and red, filter had some slight sludge..........any ideas???

FYI, Autozone tried reading the codes but scanner would not communicate, port is a OBD II configuration.......

funny thing, my work van was just doing the same thing. Turned out to be a 99.9% plugged fuel filter.

when was the last time you replaced yours?

If the motor is fighting to get fuel it will screw with your tranny shift points making it seam like it is shifting weird.
