Default Car won't rev past 3700 RPMS idling, or in gear! - *FIXED*

I was on a fairly long trip (>50 miltes) when suddenly the car lost its ability to rev past 3700 rpms. As soon as it reaches that, it drops down to 3500 then keeps trying to get past and repeats. I feel the transmission shifting, but the car just won't rev past 3700. It should be noted that I still increase in speed up to about 70ish but thats about it. Its freaking me out and I need to keep the speed at 55.

Any advice? WTF Happened?!!!!

Did it throw out any codes? If so I'm thinking it'* in limp mode. The PCM will only enter limp mode if it'* met certain criteria to do so. Something like losing the crank or cam sensor. Lemme know.

Thanks to Bill and Pat, the problem was narrowed down to the PCV valve. Thanks guys.
