Default Car cuts off while driving after dash lights go out

For some strange reason on two seperate occassions I turn my car on or while I am driving, the image on the dash of the car ( indicates when a door is open or low on gas) goes out, and a little while after the car will turn off. After I stop it takes a few cranks to get it started. Anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?

Thx

I have a 93 Bonneville SSE

First, gut feeling based on absolutely no knowledge, is to say Battery or battery cable problem.....

BUT, the Gurus will need a tough more info. Everything else seems to be working fine? Battery gauge not reading low? etc......

Do you have no power after that is just lights go out. Does the radio, horn door locks, windiows etc. Are the lights at full power then go dim then die, MOre info would help

I do have some power like the radio is till on and the dash lights turn on when try to restart the car. Yes the door locks still have power to. Not sure about the lights , both times it happened at night.

Thanks for your help so far!
