My mom has a '95 with the supercharged engine. The supercharger is going out. Can she run the car without it hooked up for awhile? Has anyone done it? How bad was the power loss.
I ran without the supercharger belt after it shredded for 15 to 20 miles. (I had to get home and the other belt was still on). It hurts the power pretty bad, but it still runs as good as most of the other average cars. I don't know how bad it would hurt the mileage or if it would have a long term effect though.

Thanks for all the help.
Here'* the scoop on the situation. It'* my mom and dad'* car, and my dad died awhile back. Mom recently moved to San Jose CA, and is strapped for cash while trying to start a new job. She will be able to buy a newer car in about a month, so it'* terrible timing on the part of the supercharger. We're just trying to think of options.
Thanks again.

She started noticing a noise like a bad bearing. Took it to a mechanic friend, their shop checked it over and said it'* the supercharger. She'* in CA, I'm in Wyo, so I can't help her much... But from conversations, it sounds like the mechanic knows what he'* doing and is not charging her for the diagnosis.
