Default Can head gaskets be reused

if the engine has not been run? My reman long block will have heads on it, but I'm gonna swap P&P heads on it before it goes in.

Negative. Once they are torqued down they should not be reused. (The metal rings around each jug get crushed down to form a seal when they are torqued...they don't return to shape.) If you were just to loosen a head, and torque it right back down again you would likely be OK, but changing the head without a new gasket isn't a good idea.

Call and tell 'em to not attach the heads...or at least, to not torque the head bolts.

I already have another head gasket set. I'm not worried about it anymore.

Didn't consider that...then again, won't putting aftermarket heads on void the warranty?
