Default New Motot Mount Broke in half in less then 1 month????

Okay so I had 2 mounts changed about a month ago. The one next to the radiator with the piston and the one on the passenger side of the motor. But now the front mount, the rubber is split in half. The shop is fixing it for free but I was wondering if this is common? Is it just a faulty mount? Can it be a sign of other issues? And let me just say I am not out hod ******* the car from light to light. I get on it every now and then but nothing that should have caused this. I feel the car is unnaturally quick for what it is and I have only added a CAI and magnaflow exhaust.

Suggestions, comments????

Thanks, Jack

It could be a faulty mount, but I'd also look at your other mounts. If one of those is broken, then there could be too much stress going to the new ones, which caused their premature failure.

You can buy a complete set of mounts for around $106 at RockAuto.com. Most are pretty simple to change, if you can support the engine.

Let me give you my experience with my 95 Regal, with the Series 1 3800 engine.

In the last 18 months I went through 3 front lower engine mounts 2 rear lower mounts, and 7 upper engine torque mounts.

It is very possible to get a bad mount. At times I've lasted no more than 2 weeks on a Duralast engine torque mount from Autozone. That could have been part of my problem.

LOL, I killed a new mount crossing one intersection after getting a fresh transmission.
