Brands of fuel
Greetings. I am new to the site. I purchased a 92 SSEI about 8 months ago. I learned much from this site about the various "quirks" the vehicle is known for. My question is 1) regarding the brands of fuel. I do use 91 octane. When I use Arco gasoline, the car runs rough, and sometimes kicks a bit. After getting that fuel out and using Chevron or Union, it'* okay. So, I know, don't use Arco. Has anyone else encountered this problem using Arco gasoline? 2) I am no mechanic, and follow the mfg'* advise in using 91 octane. Some so called "know it alls' tell me I am just wasting $$. That the car will run fine on quality 87 octane rated gasoline. I haven't, fearing that I could damaged the fuel injectors. I value your thoughts on the above, and thanks! Oh, it'* a California car with all the smog stuff on it.

You want to use quality gas. Around here we have marathon and that gas is bad. I only use BP ultimate 93. You want the highest octane you can get. A supercharged engine has higher pressures and the octane prevents knock. You will generally see about 3 more MPG using premium gas over the 87 octane. This offsets the extra cost.

BP=British Petroleum Not sure if you guys have that chain out in cali but its pretty big and imagine it to be nation wide. Look for the green and yellow signs. Alot of them go by the name "AM/PM" now.
