any tips for dianosing the problem?

i tryed both buttons and they both dont do much except when press the button u can hear a faint noise.
I had this problem on my '93 SE. Same window. I took the inside door panel off first. I then disconnected the window power, since i could hear the window strain when i hit the switch. I removed the 3 bolts on my window motor, and pulled it off. I took some really good axle/wheel bearing grease from NAPA i had laying around and coated the gear on the motor with it. I then applied that same stuff along with WD-40 to the other moving parts of the window and re-installed everything. It has worked since, no problems. One side note-When I took the motor off the door, I plugged it back in to make sure it still spun, and it did with no pressure on it.

Interesting thread. My left rear window never works in the summer. The rest of the time, it'* fine.

Never bothered me enough to fix it, though.

that holds on the door panel? (the plastic ones)-no, I decent sized screw driver will do. Just place it in-between the panel and the door and pry out gentely. Be careful no to strip them. go slow
