Do you hear a loud click when you turn the key? Had similar problem if you did.. 3 things to check..

1st.. like everyone stated.. check the wiring for the battery and the starter.. ( mine was a lose positive courtesy of a stripped battery bolt )

2nd.. check the starter solenoid.. mine was going.. and had to jump it twice manually and it would fire up.. once was in the ghetto of Scarberia ( for those of you Ontarioneans ) surprise the cop didn't think I was stealing the car.. $50 for labour and part

3rd.. when it clicks.. how long does the security light stay on for? Just wondering if it could be.. err.. never mind.. Vital beat me to it

Neutral Safety switch? It went on my GFs old car and would give her intermittent starts.

Of course the Bonne will get an Optima redtop (which Sears also sells ) cause as good as the DieHard is the design of the battery just isnt the best spiral cell technology is just bullet proof.
It'* good to know that the batteries manufactured by my company, Johnson Controls, are serving you well!!
Srry Off topic...

I swear that My Walmart batteries have that Johnson controls stocker... Do you guys manufacture the Walmart Extreme or yellw battery or what ever it is?
Yes, JCI manufactures more than 80% of all the batteries on the market. The customers then slap their own nameplate on them (i.e. Sears, WalMart, AutoZone, etc.). A majority of the batteries are manufactured by JCI at our Tampa, FL battery plant. For more info, you can go here: http://www.jci.com/bg/
Shhhhhhhh DieHard is still americas most preffered battery!!!!!

the starter motor itself is usually fine.. it'* usually the Starter solenoid that is the culprit.. I will take apic and show you where to jump straight from your battery to the solenoid.. and if it cranks over ( sometimes you will hear it free spin ) then the starter motor is fine.. but the solenoid is shot.. find a place that will replace that part alone.. and you could pull the starter off and back on a lot easier.. the solenoid installed ( onto the starter ) only cost me $50 funny money CAD.. so it should be cheaper for you yanks..

it sounds like your ignition switch isn't making good contact with the key to me, too. .. my car is doing the exact same thing now and I'm going to fix it this weekend by disabling the passkey II system in it.

Default key

Yes someone on the board had that exact same starting problem.
I think it turned out to be a bad key.
