Default air conditioning

I am having a heck of a time with the air conditioning on my wife'* 1997 K

We have dyed the system and no leaks show up under the hood, yet it only holds freon for about two days. That sort of points to the evaporator, but holy moly what a job to change that thing!

Anybody had this experience?. My wife thinks the air maybe never worked right since she bought the car new. Anyway, if anyone has thoughts, experiences or even smart remarks, I am all ears

My mom had a 92 Grand Prix that would mysteriously "lose" freon.

We found out that the radiator/condensor were clogged with dirt and gunk near the fans
(had 2 circles of dirt where the fans turned)

This raised the pressure in the system, and forced the freon out the top fitting.
We took out the rad(hosed it off) and hosed off the condensor in-car. All was well after that.

Anyone with a manifold gauge can tell you how much pressure is in the system.
Just an idea
