ABS Light on
I was wondering something, every since the day i bought my 93 bonneville i thought that the abs light was on to tell me that it was working , but soon enough i found out it wasnt. I had new wheel bearings installed on the car and it was still on. Does anyone know why this light is on?
The ABS light is on indicating that the antilock brake system is not functioning correctly. Possible causes are bad senors in the four wheel hubs, or a defective brake module. The sensors are part of the hub assemblies for each wheel and cost from $170 to $330 each for the part and the cost of labor to replace the part. This can become expensive but a diagonistic can be preformed to indicate which wheel senor is bad. Also the brake module could be defective by itself or in conjunction with a wheel senor. Cost of a brake module is high and can range $300 +++ along with the cost of installing the part. I know because on my 92 Bonni both a wheel sensor and the brake module are defective. A've replaced the wheel sensor and am now looking for a brake module. any ideas if the modele can be easily rebult from defective parts ( take them apart and make one that works. Also my car has traction control, a good option but it won't function without the antilock brakes being functional. Any suggestions from the group. Thanks
