Question 98 Bonneville Heat/AC work occasionally

My heater is only working occasionally and just seems to be getting a little worse. Sometimes my heater won't come on until I have been driving for 15-20 minutes or so. Last night when I left work to go home, the heat would not come on at all. This morning it came on immediately when I left home to go to work but at lunch I went out and it would not come on? It does not seem to matter what blower speed I have it on. I do not hear any strange noises so I don't know if it is the blower motor or something along the lines of a resister or relay? I just used this site last week for the first time to find out how to get the last screw off behind the power steering pump when I replaced my water pump and found my answer quickly. Thanks so much for you help.

Most likely your temperature controller. Be sure you are sitting down when you try and get the new part. This is of course if you have the automatic system. Look online for a used one with a warrenty.

order one here

Does everything function normally? i.e. blower works, you can change from defrost to vent to floor with no problem. If all that is o.k and you are certain your coolant is in fact heating up (bad thermostat) then my money is on the air mix actuator, I am in the process of changing mine now, there are some really good post about this, just search for "air mix actuator" and that should definitely get you started.

Good luck.

We seem to be having a run on air mix actuators lately.

My blower also works when it want to. I dont think it has anything to do with actuators though.

Is it the fan that'* not working? If so, start a new thread and we can get to work on it.
