I thought that'* what you were saying but wanted to make sure. I'm now wondering if the module is what you were smelling. I'll see if the FSM is any help.

The FSM gives no scenario for the security light not coming on with the key on. I just reread all the posts & can't believe none of us asked if you checked all the fuses. Make sure to also check the fuses under the dash on the passenger side.

the security light goes off as soon as all doors are closed and it does not come back on no matter what position the key is in, i.e. start, run

If all the fuses are good then you need to remove the Pass Key module & see if it has a 'burnt wire' smell to it. The wiring harness has three12 volt inputs. One (A1) always has power the other two (A2,B1) have power when the key is on.

Isn't the passkey module integrated into the BCM on these models? I know they are seperate from 1995 on down.

I seem to recall some posts saying they were built into the BCM but 99 FSM shows them as seperate. GM Parts Direct shows the same Pass Key Module from 93 -99.

I have checked all of the fuses, I started to clean off the leads as to make sure the connections between the fuses and the box is perfect.

I will try to find the pass key module, and ideas as to what it looks like? Or where it is located?
Thanks for the help
