Default '94 Stalls - No Check Engine Error[SES]

1st post and 1st off, beautiful site, glad to see the members are so helpful!

144k miles. Mothers car. Has stalled 4 times over last 3 days-not sure of SES came on-she tried several times to start it. After car sits for at least 4 hours starts no problem. Starts instantly-barely cranks to start. The one time I ran it,turned it off then started again, cranked over for 3-5 seconds then started. Three of the times it'* happened to my mother, about the time it'* getting up to temp-including once after new fuel pump.

Changed Fuel pump & filter per Advanced Auto parts clerk [cerified GM Mech] & local car mechanic. No go. Though car mechanic suggested OEM pump not aftermarket-though I used aftermarket. Checked pressure 37psi on aftermarket-while running. No fuel leak at press reg either. Checked battery cable, perfect condition.

Ran car this evening in driveway for approx. 2 hours, then while I was away died. NO SES.

Getting late, am going to check ground bar under carpet, check coils, control module, clean TB - per posts I've read today, after work tomorrow. Getting late, gotta goto work, are there anyother suggestions? Thoughts? How do you check control module?

Thanks!!!!

Yes, perfect at the battery. Other than I did notice some exposed wires at the alternator. I was going to fix them tomorrow also...

Definitely check both ends of all the battery cables. If the battery cables are OK it’* probably going to be the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) or ignition control module (ICM). If it happens again look to see if the tachometer is working while cranking. If the tachometer isn’t working I’d change the CPS.

A couple of other possibilities less likely than the CPS: coils (may be temperature sensitive); Technfo article on how to check ignition coils
or bad PCM.

yes check the cables and electrical connections first before doing anything else. When my SSE began to stall it progressively got worse until I found a bad cable connector at the ICM. Removed it cleaned, and tightened up on the connector prongs and all has been well since.
