Security light flashes when door open as soon as I try to start the car security stays on solid. NO cranking nothing, I hear the fuel pump prime but thats it.

Sounds like you have a junk starter.

I'm sticking with starter, get under there, smack the **** out of it with a hammer and have someone hold the key to crank.
The fact that it was "cranking slow" when you got done fueling up, but couldn't crank fast enough to fire tells me right there it'* not VATS related.
Bypassing it though if it hasn't been done before is a good idea though just as a precaution...Not that reliable of a system.

When the starter finally gave up the ghost in my '96 Buick, it did it in the same manner as yours...slowed down until it stopped working all together. As the car started previously with the security light on, I'd still be leaning toward the starter.
