Please check for codes before doing anything else. It can save you alot of time and headaches. The procedure is in Techinfo, and you don't absolutely need a scantool for a 92 to simply pull the codes.

You may also be looking at an ignition problem.

Even if the light isn't on, there may still be codes present.
