Default 92 aluminum upper intake gaskets

I pulled the upper intake on a 92 with the aluminum upper and didn't see a gasket. It looked as if were sealed with Indian head sealer???? I thought about getting a gasket but then what about the two o-rings in the front? the gasket will lift the intake and the o-rings may not seal. I looked through the posts and didn't see anything about it. The engine is about ready to go back into the car and want to do what I can with it on the ground.

You found an aluminunm 92 upper? Sweet. Know where to get another?

If it'* like the 93 plastic (which I assume it would be), you're supposed to use a chemical to get the old sealer off, then apply a 1/16 inch bead of Loctite Instant Gasket Eliminator GM P/N 1052942 or equivalent to lower manifold mating surface. Make sure to circle all bolts. Tighten upper manifold bolts to 30 N*m (22 lb. ft.)

I'd bet the torque is different because of the material differences. And my book makes no mention of O-rings for the coolant passages.

Please note there are no EGR passages, therefore it won't work on any other 3800'* other than the 1991/92 L27, without some modifications (or should I call it a complete elimination) to the egr system on the 1993-1995 L27'*. Also, the TB opening is smaller. Might be some other difference'*, but these are two things that Allmachtige and I came up with when we were considering swapping 1991/92 aliminum upper intakes onto our 1994 L27'*.

Who needs EGR? You could always port match the upper to the TB.
