Default 1995SE problems and future concerns??

Recently my 1995, 131,000 mile SE has undergone a lot of failures

1. Water pump - fixed
2. Air con "radiater" not sure if that is what it is called? - fixed
3. Alternator - fixed
4. Air con compressor - fixed
5. Wheel bearings - fixed
6. Air con condensor - thing under the dash - so far not replaced
7. Intake - engine died and coolant had filled the cylinders - fixed yesterday

I am wondering given the mileage if there are other things likely to fail and whether I should do some preventative maintenance as I cant afford to break down on the long commutes I do between MA and Western NY

Are you following the recommended maintenance schedule that came with the car? The others sound like typical failures. What'* wrong with the evaporator?

yes all maintenance is to schedule and more such as regular tranny flushes and 3009 miles oil changes. The evaporator if that is the part under the dash is leaking according to my local garage.

There'* a plastic coolant elbow that is part of the belt tensioner assembly. This will wear out overtime, and may even break off at the end. I had to replace mine....probably right around the mileage your at now. You'll know as you'll lose all your coolant and the engine will start to overheat. If this happens, check out the elbow...you'll see it leaking from there.

Be careful not to leave any of the old elbow in there when you pull it out.....and definetly don't let anything fall into the intake. :o

You could also take apart and clean your throttle body. There are plenty of posts on this....

I've got 160K on my 95 SE...I love her...till death do us part.......me or her!!!!

Make sure you take the car to a reputable A/C shop to have it worked on. I suspect you have replaced too many parts looking for a leak.

You've pretty much gone through all the stuff that has issues. You could replace the crank/cam sensors as they are prone to go, but I wouldn't worry about that yet.

I would think of it this way....repairs aren't cheap but they are cheaper than a new car.
