Ya, I know. Why I said that. Actually he'* a decent mechanic and could have done such easily. I remember his username name now, it was Sandrock. Listed his location as Space Coast, FLA. He was quite adept at yanking and swapping. If you can give us the model/serial number on the PCM it would be easier to figure the Year. And help if a replacement needs to be bought. Their pretty cheap.

i thought the 94 and 95 bonnevilles had OBD 1.5 which had OBD 1 capabilities, but the OBD 2 plug? maybe the scanner is mistaking the data coming in and is decoding it as something else?

To clear things up. The 94/95 pcm was OBD 1.5 or a transition era. They had OBD2 codes on an OBD1 connector. The codes were quite limited though. Nothing OBD2 actually uses the quad driver codes, 1.5 used the quad drivers to control 3-4 soleniods etc per driver.
Dan.. do you have the background info on the codes as to which soleniods each driver controls? If not, Todd please search the forum. I know they are listed out in the history. It'll take some digging though.
I'd start by checking the connections at the PCM. (under passengerside dash laying on the firewall with red/whte/blue connectors. If that doesn't work, all those soleniods can't really be bad. I'd start thinking PCM.

ok, talk to the guy today and it is a 94 with an obd1.5 with a odb2 plug. (94-95 only.) he belongs to www.*********************.com so with that being cleared up the codes 1640,1650,1670 are quad drivers. i have a friend that runs the local parts store and he will order one for me for 100$ new-reman. and let me try it before i pay. so tomorow it will be here and ill try it out and see what happens.
does anyone know how long i should drive it for the new pcm to throw codes?
either way i will let you'll know tomorow what happens.
thanks again for everything!!!! todd

Thanks, I'd be very interested in what you find. At this point I think the PCM might be the problem. You will know more once you switch out the quad driver.

well, put the new pcm in tonight and that seemed to be the problem, test drove for 30 miles and no check engine light and still idles good. so thanks to all that helped!!!!
now......this problem has nothing to do with my previous one... since day 1 i have back lights on the compass and the drivers information center center, but none on the rest of the cluster(fuel, rpm, spedo, oil, etc.) pulled the fuse for the dash cluster and the 2 areas mentioned earlier went out,so i believe the whole cluster is on 1 fuse.i guess i need to pull the dash and see if its connected properly. any other suggestions?
thanks again todd
