Hi folks,

I am having troubles with the door locks on my 1992 SSEi and was hoping you could help me out. The doors will unlock beautifully, but when I press any of the lock buttons (remote, or any door) the doors won't lock. The passengers lock sort of 'slides foward' very slowly, but doesn't lock. I have done a search, and I suspect that it could be a 'lock' switch, but I have no idea where it is located, and how to change it. I do apologize for the ignorance, and help help that you guys can provide is greatly appeciated. Lock switch or something else? Thank you again.

Josh.. it sounds like a classic symptom of a bad lock switch.

None of the doors react at all when using the master (drivers) switch or remote?
The passenger side attempt to move. This is the only thing confusing me. Sounds like it is trying. Do any other doors try? Does the passenger only try when the passenger button is pressed?

Strangely enough today when I went to check on your questions Bill, the door locks worked just fine...?

Yesterday was pretty wet--could something have been acting up because of the added humidity? Also, should I change out the lock switches anyhow just to be proactive?

It could be the humidity.

If it has happened just this once I wouldn't worry about changing them out. More than just this time...it may be worth it. I keep a spare set on hand in case.

My understanding is the master switch usually wears out first.

Is there an unlock, lock, and master switch?

Where are they located? Whenever I unlock or lock there is a click from the drivers side trunk area--are they back there?

The master switch I am referring to is the driver side switches on the armrest.
The passenger side is also on the front door. Those are your two lock switches

The thunk you hear is the gas tank door lock. It actuates with the locks. Pretty loud isn't it?
