Default 1992 bonneville air cond problem. Air only comes out from...

Hey, this is my first post here.

My friend has a 92 loaded Bonneville. When you have the air on or vent/heat, it ONLY COMES OUT of the defroster vents and floor. NOTHING comes out of the middle vents at all. I can turn the selector **** to all the different positions, but nothing changes. I can turn it off if I turn it all the way to the left, but I can't get anything out of the middle vents.

Any way to unstick it?

Ok.....it can't be 'loaded' if you're turning *****. I'm assuming you don't have the auto climate control. Back behind the climate control head is a small round vacuum manifold. Lots of little lines going to it. Check them all. For some reason, the diverter door won't go to that one position.

Correct, it isn't the auto climate control.

When I turn the **** for all the different vent settings I don't hear any swooshing sounds or anything, so I'm thinking it'* a tube maybe. I just looked in the engine and everything seems ok, but I probably don't know what I'm looking for, newbie here.

Do you have any pics of this area I should be looking at you can post?

M'kay, Sin'ce it'* a 92, get up under the dash, pass side. Pul the kick panel if you can't see it but, There'* six vacuum lines running from right on top of the radio to just about behind the glovebox. make sure they're not kinked or blocked.

My favorite suggestion in this case is the vacuum line on the reservior to the left of the brake master cylinder, under the hood. There should be two vacuum line attached to it, and no empty posts.

i Had this on my 94, and there was a hole melted in one of plastic vaccuum hose fittings under the hood, got the part for like $2 at my local auto parts store.

look for something like that, i believe it was resting near the top of the engine on the right side and had 2-3 rubber lines going into it

Ohhh....I didn't even think of that. Those little posts like to break when they get brittle.

You can see it in my signature picture. The large black cover on the maxifuse center (with my stickers on it) is just to the left of it. The motor for the wipers is just to the right. It'* the black box mounted to the firewall between those two items. There'* a post on this......searching.......
