Final days ARE near!(updated with pics Dec30th)
Well I was driving around and know a dealer so I figured I would stop in a see what he had for CHEAP. He did have a car at his second lot. a 92 Cavalier with only 73,000 kms (just over 45,000 miles). The windows says 4200, but I was talking with his son ( works there also) and figured I can get it for about 2,500$ certified.
Story on the car, is that an older lady owned it, gave it to her grandson, he decided he was going to customize it. He started : hood from a z24 cav, and painted it grey. It looks not bad from far, but far from good, lol. Interior looks clean. He traded it in since he drives about 3 hours a day to and from school and his parents wanted him to have a newer car. They are friends with this dealer so you know how it goes.
It does have the 3.1L auto, tilt, power windows, power locks. Not sure what else it has.
oh yeah, here are the pics I took of it. Interior shots are not the best due to the tint on the windows.

hm, it'* got shaved mouldings as well, be careful in the parking lots
If you're considering a Cavalier, I'd honestly would not rule out a Civic, but resale value might ding you. I think you can do better for $2500...

You said the car is certified, what does that cover?
Just curious on your bonnie how much did the replacemenet engine cost?
I live in Michigan, underbody of my Bonnie is in bad shape but my engine is the worst right now. I think we are just going to drive it until it won't drive anymore.

All cars here have to pass a certification. Basically, it has to be safe to drive. You can have a car pass certification without and engine though, lol.
It usually includes, the windshield have no cracks( in the view of the driver), no holes in the floor, all brakes and lines be functioning and in good working order, all lights work on the car, all the seat belts work on the car, your e-brake works. You know all the safety stuff be working fine.
So technically you don't need an engine or trans for that.
Being that the car is certified, I know that I do not have to put any $$$ into it to get it on the road, I just pay for it, get insurance and plates and it'* good to go.

Well good luck with the new car. That is funny about the engine and trans. My car is on its last leg to so I know what a pain it is to try to get a car, when you just don't have the cash. My car is a 1989 bonnieville LE
