Do bad lifters make a kind of clicking sound or a knocking. And if so how bad are they to replace? If fairly handy as long an i dont need sone special tools, do all the work i can to my 88 bonne

They make click/tick noise similar to an exhaust leak just louder usually...How long has your car been without an oilchange?

About140xxx miles. And as for symptoms if i have the hood open you hear the clicking sound and i
Dont think its like belt or pullys catching something. Fairly sure its under the valve covers. Or that area

Hmm..Alright well i am getting ready to leave so i hope others can help you..But if it is only upon start up do not be surprised as the lifters are the last part to receive oil from the bottom...If it sounds to be all of them i would suspect a bad/clogged oil pump/If it is only 1 or 2 then i would suspect a bad lifter but yes they make a tick/click type noise

If your sure it'* a lifter causing it, you can try to seafoam in the oil, then change the oil again. If that don't clear the lifter, and you are sure it is a lifter, it'* not that hard to change them out. I don't know every detail about your engine, but for the most part it'* remove the valve covers, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds. Remove the rockers and push rods. Remove the lifter retainers, two bolts each side. Then use a magnet to lift the lifters out. Reverse the order when putting it back together. You will need new rocker bolts, you can't reuse the stock ones. Only special tool you will need is a inch pound torque wrench.

Has anyone tried that Sea Foam stuff? I have a 99 Chevy Venture that had that typical Chevy clicking noise (always did since the day we bought it new from the dealership). Got a can of Sea foam and put a pint in the crank case. Immediately the clicking went away. about 2000 miles later we changed the oil. It'* not clicked once since then.
I was wondering if anyone else has used it. I'm tempted to put some in the Park Ave.
