ECM replacement...
Just out of curiosity.. will an 88 SSE ECM work in my 90 SSE? I'm assuming that the ECM'* should be the same, no?

The ECM'* for the Vin C 88-91 3800 are the same, the car should run off the 88 Mem Cal, but the gear ratio may be off depending on what you current gear ratio is..
Best thing to do is use the 88 ECM and swap your Mem Cal to the new puter

Well, got the ECM, swapped the EPROM, and I get a code 26 (quad driver).. and my car doesn't want to shift down into 1st now, even when going to WOT at about 30km/h... so I think I'll just pop my old ECM back in and deal with it...

That doesn't have much to do with the computer...
You need to check all of the items controled by the driver and see if you have another problem..
You transmission is not electronicly controled with the exception of the TCC lock up feature... The way the trans shifts and shift timming are all controled hydraulicly

I didn't have a code 26 on my car anymore with my old ECM, and the car didn't run worth a stink with the new ECM in...

OK.. Then why did you replace it?
Reinstall the old one and keep the bad one for a core for when you have to go buy a reman when the original does fail..

Because I'm running out of ideas on why my car is having so many problems... The car has started to flood for some reason, my power door locks and seats don't work for some reason now, and my rad fans seem to be working right now.. but may not work next time I start the car... like I said, I'm running out of ideas on what to do with the ol girl....
