Default hmm.

I had a problem like that in the 87 with the shifting of the transaxle, I found theres a vacuum line disconnected from the shifter position switch (back of the motor top of the transaxle right by the fire wall.

Don, that transmission vac line that you say runs down to the tranny. It starts from the vac manifold adjacent to the TB (just to the left) in fact I believe there is a diagram ontop of the rad, illustrating the vac lines diagramatically. Is this the only vac line to the tranny and what else could be throwing a Code 36 issue?

Bill and Fuddy mentioned that the older transaxles are operated on vacuum systems, no valves or regulators. Also where is the sensor located?

Ok.... just to bring anyone who doesn't know up-to-speed... my tranny is ill... has been for a while... it'* the org transmission, and has nearly 250,000kms on it.

I was out this evening driving her with the SES light on (that'* so bright @ night), and I'm not 100% sure... but I think she'* shifting late, and the shifts seem 'harder'. Might be my imagination, I might be looking/feeling too much into it.

If it'* the MAF, any easy test I can do to see if it'* that?... should I worry about fixing it?
(any idea on the price to repair this?)

The Transaxle Shift Problem... if it'* just a bad switch... should I worry about fixing it?... also... it sounds expensive.

I was hoping... oh so hoping... to get the summer out of the car. I'm putting her in storage for the winter. I don't have the money to fix anything major (ie the tranny). But if I save over the winter, I might/should have enough for it. Maybe Santa will bring me one for xmas

$280 USD.... ouch...

Any cheaper options, or is that figure about right for all scan tools.
