car stalls and dies when i turn on the front defogger
it just started happening today..
i tried several times to turn on the front defogger while im driving to defrost my windshield and then my car surges and dies..... but starts back up no problem and drives perfect untill i try to use the defogger again..?
any ideas on this weird one...
i did install a aftermarket radio in the 88 2 days ago but i installed it correctly with a wire harness adapter..... so i dont see how that could cause an issue..

It is normal for the car to not die when using the defroster or AC, both of which are supposed to activate the compressor.
Just to be clear, any dying that occurs before you turn off the key is not normal regardless of gear selection.

and this really bites because when my car was broken into last week they stole my code scanner....
i have to find out how to jump the pins with a paper clip to retrieve the codes...

It'* in Techinfo. There is a link to Techinfo in the header on every page of the Bonneville Club.
1987-1993 ECM/PCM Code retrival link
It is very easy to do.
Also in Techinfo is a list of the codes by number telling what each one means.
