Default brake pad replacement

Just got through replacing the pads on the Bonneville after I almost didn't get stopped at a stop sign the other day. Took the old pads off and the ones on the driver'* side was cracked in half. I imagine it got hot. The pad on the other side was almost half a pad but I went ahead and replaced with Raybestos Lifetime warranty pads. The rotors were good and I left them alone. Still saving money for some good ones. My car seems to stop better now but it seems like my brakes get hot after heavy braking. My question is why don't these cars come with better brakes from the factory. I mean a car that can do 0-60 in 9 seconds but it can't seem to stop worth anything. Just thought I'd share my one complaint about these cars.

To add to your complaint--I go through brake pads like crazy!! I did alot of highway driving and I'd go through front pads maybe every 4 months! And I re-did my rear drums and there'* something wrong there too. A few months ago I pulled a rear drum(new one) just to check and the drum was scored to hell and brake parts fell out!1 funny thing is the same exact thing happened to the SSE that I found in a j/y--same EXACT thing!!
Anyone else have any weird brake problems?

Sorry, none to report...last time I had my brakes done, the replaced the rotors and pads in the fronts. The rear shoes were still painted red...almost like new. Its odd that yours wear out so much esp on the back considering they only do 25% of the stopping work.

I also get lifetime warranty and parts on my brakes...or so they say

Sorry, I can't be of much more help

Thanks for the input.
Nothing is leaking--everything seems dry and no loss of brake fluid.
Sucks for me.
