New INTENSE Computer - Update 1 !!!!

Sorry Paul, my memory fails me...you had a DHP PCM previously? I recall you were having Torque Management issues (likely cause) before.
Please fill me in and let us know any contrasts you see (without mushrooms ) between PCMs.

Now with the standard INTENSE unit the torque management issue has finally been programmed properly. Special thanks to Rogue using 8 Ball as a test case. Units sold previous to the summer of 2004 did not include this special programming. This only applies to 2000-2 models.

Just a little update.
I haven't had it past 70 mph yet but the differences that are noticeable are :
1. The 1-2 shifts at 5900 rpm with the new INTENSE. It used to shift at 6000 rpm with the DHP unit. Advantage DHP. :(
2. The low speed fans come on every time I turn off the car for a couple of minutes with the INTENSE. They only came on with the DHP when I turned off the car and the temp was higher than 180 F. Advantage INTENSE.
3. The shifts are not as firm with the INTENSE as with the DHP. Mixed feelings. I like firm shifts, I have the Intense shift kit, but I like being a little more gentle with the trani.
4. I need to do more playing but I think the downshift from 3 - 1 came easier with the DHP than with the INTENSE. Advantage DHP....but it'* too early to judge completely. :?
Due to the pulley swap from 3.3 to 3.2, the boost gauge now pegs right to the end which is 10.psi. I think I gained about 1 psi by going from the 3.4 to the 3.2, so I attribute the greater pull to that.
All of these differences will pale in comparison if the torque management has been controlled, as promised, with the INTENSE unit.
I'm planning a small highway road trip over the next two days, so that should tell the tale.
.....to be continued.

1) A lot of this code was based off my car. Remember, I rev a lot faster then probably anyone here. My 1-2 shift commanded at 5900 doesn't actually shift then, it shifts more like 6050.
3) The lighter shifts are there to help save your trans. Our TC are much heaveir then a gp (by almost 9 lbs). Granted its nice to have those bucking shifts but your going to trash your trans if you have it pumped that high.
4) Same thinking as 3, the 3-1 skip happens much earlier in the rpm band than with the dhp but for a reason. The 3-1 will do a number on your Bonneville (and on a GP but not quite as bad) trans.
I'm not making excuses for the PCM because quite frankly I don't think it needs it. I'm just pointing out some of the logic behind why it does what it does. The fact that its not a 98-99 GTP PCM hacked to fit a bonneville is reason enough to get it over the DHP but i'm sure you will love the torque management changes when you get to testing it
Have fun testing

So far I'm still happy with my choice to swap.
