sprocket ratios before gears?
Just to confirm: the sprockets are before the individual gears, right? So when you do the combined multiplication, it is sprocket ratio * gears * diff, right?
I see a total ratio mentioned for the different models but if the sequence above is correct then its a meaningless number?

he is asking how you figure overall ratio. its the number of teeth of the second pulley divided by the first, then multiply that by the number of the diff.

I am trying to figure out what comes first in the power train, chain/sprockets or the drive gears. Overall gear ratio is determined by multiplying each ratio in sequence. If the sprockets come first then that ratio modifies the drive gear output, before it is modified again by the differential. If the drive gears come first, then they are modified by the chain/sprocket ratio before the differential gets it. Seems minor but I am trying to match 4T65E candidates to my 85 DeVille and the difference in cumulative gear ratio have to be considered.

2.92, 1.56, 1. ,.7 are the gears. the over all ratio for first with a 35/35 would be 2.92*1*diff ratio. doesnt matter what order you multiply
