okay, heres what the stupid dealer says
(and no, i dont actually mean theyre stupid, cause i know im the stupid one )
this is referring to my post about the LEDs... how the dealer replaced the EBCM saying that the LEDs shorted them out.
keep in mind:
I HAD LEds in both brake lights, the rear sidemarker, and the reverse lights. they only took out 4 of the 8. they took out the 2 that were in the brake light area.
BRAKE INSPECTION
C/* THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL IS NOT WORKING
CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THE EBCM WAS SHORTED OUT DUE TO
LED LIGHTS BEING PLACED IN BRAKE LIGHTS
- -ALSO RELATED TO THE SWITCH BEING SHORED- -
REPLACED EBCM: STOP LAMP SWITCH AND BULBS AND
CONFIRMED PROPER OPERATION
so basically, the LEDs shorted out the EBCM?
any advice on this would be nice... i dont see how it makes sense but let me know?
what does EBCM stand for?
heres the numbers
SWITCH 25668878
MODULE 12226954

thats what i thought, exactly.
now what do i do?
is it somethign to do with resistance? and if so...how do i make it so i can put the LEDs in again?

The resistance could be a problem. Basically, your stock bulbs are rated at so much wattage at a certain voltage, which really means that the current is a constant (I worked in the automotive lighting industry for a while).
LED'* obviously draw far much less current than a comparable bulb, unless they have been built to meet the OEM specification'* as far as current draw and voltage is concerned (99% of the time, this is not the case, as they are generally marketed as being low consumption).
Now, that being said, there is always the possibility that too much current was being allowed to pass through the LED'* into the EBCM, causing a premature failture. But, don't quote me on this, since I do not have any electrical diagrams to look at.
ddalder should *hopefully* have more info than I do, more specifically on how the circuits are built, amperage across the circuits, etc...

Remember that resistance = heat, which causes melt downs of wiring etc.
On a side note........Why did you start 2 different threads related to this same topic ?
It'* all related to the same problem and gets confusing for members to help you if they don't what has already been posted by other members in a different thread.
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=95004
As a general rule of thumb its a good idea to keep everything together in the same post for the same problem or topic.
Did you ask the dealer if a resistance change in the circuit would cause the problem as I suggested before in the previous thread ?
If not ask to speak directly with their Electrial Tech and ask the question about the resistance change between LED'* and standard Bulbs.
Good luck,
Dutch

Multiple topics for the same problem do nothing but cause confusion and split your replies, or hide the whole story.
Please pick one of your other two topics on this subject to continue with. Update them as you see fit, including linking back to this one.
