Service Air Bag when cold
Wanted to take a shot at fixing this issue. Only happens in winter, and once you let things warm up some (5-10 minutes of running) - the message goes out. Have had two (non GM Tech2) scans done on the car while the light was on, and they couldn't establish communications to the SRS system. Not sure what to make of that.
First, has anyone heard of this or know any solutions? Is it likely a bad connection to the SRS ECU under the center console or a bad ECU? Both front seats have had their connection reseated, the impact sensor below the radiator has been wiggled.
Any ideas appreciated..

What kind of scanners were they? And yes, this is important.

Sorry, can't say what kind of scanners they were.. One was at a body shop, another at a big Firestone repair shop. Neither was a little handheld scanner like you see at the auto store both were big computers. Sorry, for the vague description.. But both tech'* couldn't figure out why it wouldn't find anything from the SRS..
I would love to be able to read SRS codes.. Why can't they get an app that uses the Bluetooth OBD2 connector and tell me the code is beyond me. Seems like SRS codes are an industry secret.
Hoping someone else may have had the problem or some connections to check. Otherwise, I may unplug battery and go after connections on the ECU and anything else I can find.

Instead of going into the system not knowing anything, I highly suggest you either get the FSM or at least a subscription to AlldataDIY. They have all the schematics and diagnostic information available. It'* like $15 per year per vehicle.
And if I recall correctly, the ABS talks to the BCM directly, not the PCM. That'* why its called the BCM(Body Control Module)

Only very high end scanners can read "B" codes.....
You have no shot at diagnosing this without knowing what the SRS code is....
But i agree, it does sound like a connection problem, that is not tight...cold weather could have an affect on it, due to contraction, causing an intermittent contact...
