Default Cam Installation

I am going to be doing the installation of a cam in my 2000 Bonneville and was wondering if there is any difference from installing it on a gtp. I have the installation instruction but was really wondering about the clearence in removing it from the passenger wheelwell. I understand that in order to remove the cam from a gtp, the engine needs to be lowered appximately 8-10 inches. Is there any clearence issues that will inhibit me from doing it this way. Any replies would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You can do it the same way with the bonneville. Just make sure when you drop the cradle to remove the pinch bolt from the power steering rack or unbolt the rack from the cradle or just make sure you don't drop the drivers side of the cradle much, because the last thing you want is to break the steering and not be able to drive the car becuase the steering linkage is broken.

The GP write up should really be all you need.

Hopefully you enjoy the cam, I know you will. Which cam did you decide on?

I decided to go with the cam that is listed on ebay. This is for the fact that I really don't want to have to replace the springs and retainers. I will be getting the option 4 cam installation kit and a new timing chain.
(with shipping charges)
Cam $307
Installation kit and timing chain $157.29
Amsoil 20w-50 racing oil + filter $40
Dexcool $20
Total $524.21for 30 horsepower sounds good to me

Got a link to that cam? I'm curious what the specs are. You will likely need valve springs if you want to rev much over 5500 anyways, stock valvesprings suck pretty bad.

Also, I definately don't think I'd run 20w-50 at all. Way too thick for these engines. Its not a small block......

10w-30 AT MOST. Most of the people making good power run 5w-30 or thinner. I run 5w-30 in my 99 GT and have for the last 20k miles. The bottom end has a little over 220,000 miles on it and makes over twice the power it did stock and I've had 0 issues, when I had the heads off the original cross hatch was still very visible on the cylinders.
