bubbling hood
#41
I called and talked to someone at pontiac about this issue. They took the dealership/service center and such and called them. They proceeded to call me back and tell me that the paint is only covered for 36000 miles and that I would be in charge of my own repairs....
Is that anywhere close to being on target? I'm sitting at 88,000 miles.

2001 SLE denied hood repair
I have 77,000 miles - dealer had GM service rep look at the car - they say they'll repair if I pay for half ($250). Should I do it or keep fighting?

If your claim was denied, it was almost certainly due to mileage. I'd take it for that $250, but make sure they strip it down and use the proper primer this time. I recall a formula change that solved the problem. The old primer reacted with the aluminum and caused the bubbling.

I had the same issue back in 03. The dealer said the is was some crud that may have gotten on it before painting at the factory. They told me that they would only sand and repaint it and thats all that GM would pay for. Well I went with it and about 8 months later it happend again in the same place. I took it back to them and they went and replaced the hood at no cost. The bubbling started on top at the front point and got to be about 3 inchs in lenth. Then it started moving to the underside of the hood. The second time it didn't get that bad.
