Default keyless entry not working

It'* more intermittent actually. Replacing the battery in the remote did nothing. Tried to re-learn as the manual states by holding both unlock/lock for 8 seconds, no dice. Any ideas???

The key fob itself may be starting to fail. I had the same problem years ago. But if you have a second key fob to try and the problem still exists then it is likely the fobs are not at fault.

My daughters grand am did the same thing when we got it. the hold the lock/unlock for awhile did the trick. although no visual/audio indications from the car. this week she said her remote wasn't locking. the unlock worked, wouldn't lock. held the lock/unlock for about 10 secs, no indications, and it worked again. :?

Food for thought.....

If you have to start replacing these, you may want to consider getting a remote starter. I did this and for $275, I got two now fobs, that remote start the engine and controls all the things my factory fobs did, i.e., door locks and trunk.

Default fob

check the clip that hols the batt in. They tend to break at the circuit board.
Had to sotter mine when I got my 96.

I'll have to agree with 4EVA. My battery clip came loose and made the remote intermittent at best. Nothing that a few well-placed gobs of solder can't fix.
