Default Keyless Entry Remote system, not working!?

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I searched it and no one has the same problem that I am having.
A few days ago, my keyless remote stopped working...
I noticed that the range got a bit less before this happened so I changed the battery to no avail, then I reprogrammed (guesswork since I dont know the exact directions) and that didn't work. I looked at the module which I am guessing has something to do with the keyless entry since it has the same FCC number as the remote, and nothing appears to be wrong with it or the wiring. I'm just looking for some troubleshooting help, anything you guys can help me with will be great and I'll try to be as responsive and helpful as my time and knowledge permits. Thanks!

Have you checked and changed the battery in your remote?

Thanks for the point out Travis.. Maybe double check the new battery is good with a multimeter. It'* odd that range would decrease over time.

I'll check the new battery, and I'll see if my old remote will work with it, too...

I tried that and it didn't work...maybe I am mistaken on what I should jump, but that is pretty straightforward. The battery appears to be fine, any other suggestions? Maybe a fuse or something blew? The problem with range may have been a coincidence...

When you took the old batteries out did they have ANY corrosion on them??? If so take the remote apart GENTLY And clean it with a soft tooth brush. Make sure and get behind the bottons! I had this problem with my remote when I first got my SSEi now all is well!

There was no corrosion and I cleaned it after the new battery didn't work, instinctively. I'm going to have to see if the dealership can try to program it w/ a new remote or something, maybe its just broken or I am doing it wrong.
