Default HELP - Possible trouble with my supercharger on '95 SSEi?

My '95 SSEi has been just a LITTLE noisy, but last night when I was about 2 miles from my house, it started making more of a roar from what sounds like underneath the hood. I'm wondering if it is from my supercharger from some of the information I've previously read here on the site.

It is not a big noise, but from about 25 to 50 mph I can tell especially when backing off the accelerator that it wants to be a little louder.

What advice can you give me - how soon if it is the supercharger will it need to be replaced? Where can I get a good rebuilt one, and is a rebuilt one a good alternative to buying a new one?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

I HIGHLY doubt that your */C is toast.....I have 201K miles on my car with the factory */C on it and I JUST replaced the coupler in it 2 weeks ago....and put a smaller pulley on it. The supercharger'* on these cars will long out last the car with minimal maintanance. Does it sound like a really bad engine rattle? Maybe?

does it vary with engine speed or vehicle speed?

Default It does vary with engine speed

It'* pretty unusual... the louder roar is noticeable when I back off the accelerator, especially from 45 mph as it comes down in speed. I looked at everything underneath the hood to see if anything may be acting up, but I don't see problems there.

When I bought this car in December it was making a little noise from the rear brakes, and it still does so even after checking to see that it had brand new brakes all the way around plus even new wheel cylinders put on it before I bought it.

I'm a little stumped...

I'm gonna say more than likely the rear brakes.......They get a lot of crap stuck in them.....and make quite the growling noise....I'd start there before the */C......Could possibly have a bad wheel bearing?

Default Brakes were squealing, but still hear a little roar

I didn't have time to get the Bonneville up in the garage, so I took it by one of the mechanics today. The back brakes apparently were rubbing the backing plate and/or drum, because they did see metal shavings in the brake dust. After cleaning that up now hopefully I won't have brake noise for a while.

I'm wondering if it might be a wheel bearing, too, making the noise, but you would think it would be a more consistent noise. I'll keep you posted! Thanks for your help.
