YAY! THE DIS-4 IS FINALLY INSTALLED!
#11
Hey Nitro, Got wiring diagrams still for how you put yours in? I have a dis 4 in my basement (with buick adapters) that I haven't touched in 6 months. Any help would be greatly aqppreciated; including closeup pics of all the wireing connections!!!

thanks fellers!
IS it a good mod for the buck? hmmm, total is like 700$, i'll let you know after i go to the track next. So far so good tho.
BonneMeMN, i have it set at factory right now until i change my oil and make sure everything is bolted down. 135k miles on the girl, gotta give love to get love.
SSEi95, Unfortunately all the wiring is covered so i cant take pictures of the actual soldered connections. I do have the instructions still, i have 2 sets of them for some reason. The coil adapters are key, what are buick adapters? do they have 4 wires coming out of each adapter?

The "buick" adapters are the same as your coil adapters. Same part, different name.
I have the box with all the instructions still. I've looked over it but don't know if I feel up to doing this myself or not. I might try it one of these weekends, otherwise I'll take it to my mechanic and have him drop it in.
Did you have to adjust any of the settings on the box from factory?

IF you have the adapters it makes it ALOT easier! You dont have to cut and splice into your existing wiring on your OEM ignition. you jsut need to know what is your hot pin in the coil pac. the directions said GM didint have a set standard so you would have to test them with the coil pacs off. mine turned out to be each bottom pin of all three coil pacs and you have the same car so its probably the same. Lets see if i can remember now, theres a white and a black wire over each pin of the coil pac making it a total of for wires per coil adapter. the white wire over the 12v pin is coil +. the same white wire from all 3 coil pacs get soldered together on the coil pac side and are soldered to both orange/brown wires on the harness. a 3-2 conenction The black wires from all three coil pacs over the hot pin get soldered together then soldered to the 2 red wires on the harness in a 3-2 relationship also. This is 12v source for the coils. Then the remaining wires on the harness are the trigger wires and coil neg wires for each coil, and get soldered in a one to one relationship. from the coil adapters, the black wire over the top pin of the coil pacs, ( the NON 12v one), are the trigger wires and the white wires is the Coil neg.
I did all the soldering of the harness and the adapters on the workbench before i installed them. IT was much easier. the dis 4 itself was easy to wire. Just one pos and neg to wire to the battery and ground. There are 2 more wires to groud if you want to use the rev limiter and security switch.
Mine ran fine at factory default, good thing i checked tho, b'c the dip switches werent actaully set at factory default when i installed it. by chanigng the retard degree, theres not numch more i need to change on the box.
