plugas on my buddies 99 K1500 are worse than anything i haver ever had to change yet

Pop off the bar that goes from strut tower to strut tower. 2 bolts and 2 shims...makes it a helluva lot easier to get at those plugs! Just don't forget to reinstall it before you drive the car!

And these plugs are nothing to change compared to a Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable. The plugs are literally UNDER the intake manifold on the fire wall side. To get at them you have to remove the coil packs and have about 10" of extension. They're a true mo fo to get at!!!

I wonder how long its been since I have changed my spark plugs. I am going to have to do a BIG tune-up come spring. Boy do I hate winter.

You mean I can move my alternator? Changing plugs on my Bonne was easy. I was going to let the shop do my plugs and wires on the Cutlass (I only have 61,000 miles but they are original and the car sat for a while before I bought it) but if I don't have to rock the engine forward I may do it myself.

Should always disconnect battery following a Service Book, even for removing tires..

Frankly i used the STB to hold onto when working back there. A stool, and some mechanix gloves make working back there easy, you can almost lay on the engine too if you have to.

Just don't scratch your fender!

I agree, laying across the engine is the easiest to get at the back ones.

Removing that strut tower bar really opens things up and makes the job so much easier.

I probably have the oldest unchanged plugs (i'm not proud of it) 89,xxx miles On origional plugs. (and wires)

how do you guys "rock" the engine?

i got em all done last night.... and WOW there were a couple that were REALLY bad......
