Update: Got the motor home yesterday and it is now safely ensconced on an engine stand in the garage.

No need for a flexplate, one was still attached. Will need to do some thinking on the brackets. The top two dogbones on the front side of the motor go bye-bye. I'll also trim up the coil pack mount to remove the dogbone mount that is cast into it (and covers the front valve cover.

The TB is going to take a bit of work. I'm considering doing a adaptor plate to mount the older 94 style TB on the M90. That will give me the cables in the right orientation to the existing setup (i.e. coming off the TB at a right angle to the motor centerline and pitched down 45 degrees.)

Otherwise, everything else looks ready to roll.

2nd Update: Guess I'm doing business with Intense. Ordered up the adaptor plate to let me mount the older style TB to the M90 SC.

...And so it begins...

Curt, have you thought about a stand-alone ECM, like a MegaSquirt? The new models are CAN, and you can link a second one to it to control your transmission.

And speaking of transmissions, you are gonna need one. I am treading into unknown waters and will be building up a new one for me soon, and Don wants to be a part of it too. So far I have a case...and that'* it. I'm talking to several members about offering up their trans corpses and I am going to Frankenstein a complete ready-to-swap unit, and I will be taking lots of pics during this buildup. Question is...you gonna go with a '60 or '65? I can offer you any findings I come across if you are going to build one up yourself.

Hes going to have to go to a 65 tranny if he wants to go with a 97 or newer PCM.....

if you need pics for comparison from my car for the swap just ask bill, randy, or me.

I'm sure if the Trans Tanks it can be built
That'* pretty much the skinny. I stripped the motor down this afternoon, removing all the bit'* that are not going to be needed on this swap. To keep it simple, I am going to use the 90 ECM (I still have to talk to Ryan Gick about another prom, though I may start with the one he already burned just to see how it reacts to the motor in it'* stock form.)

As for the transmission. There'* just something reassuring about having the valvebody doing all the shifts, without a PCM to drive it. I'll start asking around to see if a stronger one can be assembled using 4T60 cases, or if a naturally stronger model can be backdated to a manual valvebody with TV cable. Next best thing would be a Getrag 5-Speed manual on it.

I guess I tend to do things the old way...stick to systems I understand, then wait till something goes pop..bang..booooom before looking to upgrade it. I'm kinda violating this principle already by going away from the hybrid LN3/L37 plan, but having an entire L67 motor land in my lap is too tempting to resist.

I also still have the backup motor waiting should I run into a problem with this one. (The hybrid L36/L67 motor that'* been under construction for the past few months.)

BTW, the target date to have all swaps done is March 9, 2007. I need to have all three projects wrapped up by then, before the registrations come up for renewal...cause one of them is leaving my driveway for good. Probably the '87 Camaro, since it'* a bracket racer only and isn't very streetable (pull the monster 420 out, put a carb 350 in, and send it on down the road...at least that is the plan.)

Then comes the garage sale of the excess stuff that has accumulated. (One '94 3.4L F-Body driveline, the LN3, L37 blower, a bunch of 3rd and 4th Gen F-body parts, carbs, manifolds, etc, etc.) I actually would like to get the car " in" the garage on a regular basis

Nope, no need at this point, The L67 came with all the accessories. In-fact, the entire L37 top end I've accumulated (less the TB and cable brackets) are going on the "for sale" pile. Though, if someone would like the LN3 assembled with the L37 top end, I'll oblige them once it is out of the car.

Sounds like this is going to shape up to be another mini-meet

At least Jjnx could make it this time, though with a slight limp
