My new ride, not a Bonnie or even a Pontiac, but it'll do...

Not enough, 7.5psi is what its supposed to be. My STE was only making about 6psi stock though and still put out 182whp. (~227 crank) This car isn't running stock boost though, it should be running around 11psi now. Stock power ratings are 205hp @ 4800rpm, 220tq. @ 2000rpm.

lIts a possibility I might make one or two runs, but definately not more than that. Like I said, I can't afford anymore trannies, so I can't really drive it that hard. I am thinking I'm gonna make at least one run, never open the hood or anything like that, and just park it and see what kind of crowd it attracts. If it doesn't attract a crowd, then I'll go home. But I think it will suprise a couple people.

Question... Do all of those Turbo 3.1'* have the 4T60 Transmission? Seems like those Turbo 3.1'* push those transmissions for everything they are worth..
And is the gear ratio 3.33?

They have the 440T4 (4T60), but it is a special tranny that is built up just for the Turbo cars. Some call it the 4T60-HD, but I don't think thats technically what its called. But it has different clutches and hard parts in it, and yes it has 3.33:1 final drive. They also have factory tranny coolers. Stock they aren't too bad on the trannies because they have a lot of turbo lag programmed into the computer where it holds the wastegate open until X rpm and then slowly opens it so you don't put too much stress on the tranny. As soon as you get rid of the boost ramp, or decrease it so it doesn't do as much, you start having problems with the trannies. But personally, when you have an undersized turbo that can be fully spooled at well under 2k rpm, then why have to wait until 4k for it to be spooled. Not to mention, they are really slow with that boost ramp. Really, the trannies just aren't built to handle much over 200ft.lbs., and as soon as you put high boost on a pushrod engine at low rpms, you automatically get lots of torque. So the tranny suffers. And unfortunately, there really isn't a good upgrade out there for them.

When the 4T60 first came out, GM had a lot of issues with it... I think it was simmilar to the 3T40 at the time with an added gear...
But in later years they found that they had to make some improvements to the 4T60 for the Caddy FWD V8, At the time they were all failing behind the V8... So later GM gave the tranny a name, I think it was an RPO of sorts.. I forget which one... But it was specific to the Caddy V8... It was designed to handle the torque..
The funny part is that much in the way all of the 4T60-E HD had the same gear ratio as the older 4T60 caddy trans...
A turbo 3.1 in a Lumina is just too neat... and it would be a major supprise to most..
