Default My '65 GOAT

Haven't been here in a while so I thought I'd let you know that my '65 GTO is getting so attention. New shocks, new springs, new upper control arms, new draglink & tie rods, new stabilizer links, new bottom ball joints. Plan on putting all that in next week while I'm on vacation. Soon I'll be putting a 400 Turbo Tranny in it also. This winter it will be in the body shop for a new drivers floor patch and paint job. I put my Centerlines on it a while back. Once I get the rear springs on and get the car settled down I'll see if the back tires still clear. Here'* some pictures.

There is just something cool about all original GTO'* and Don I will follow this thread!
I hope you take lots of photos during the work ahead & post them.
How many miles are on the 389? Is the 400 turbo you are planing to install rebuilt?

Nothing like putting on new parts to bring back that new car feel, cannot wait to see how it looks with a new paint job.

I wanted to put a 4-speed in it but for right now I'll take the 2-speed out and put the 400 Turbo out of my old '68 GTO. That 2-speed works but I just don't like it.

Good Work..
I bet it will ride a whole lot smoother once the new control arms/shocks etc are all installed.
Going to need an alignment completed once it is rolling again.

I have a caster/camber gauge from the Triky Tool co. It will get me close and I bought some new shims to fine tune it.

I'm going to repaint it the same color. It was painted back in '87 or so but the paint is peeling all the way down to the bare steel on the roof.

Keeping it the same color is a good idea, I like that color, it looks really good on that car!

Got one side done. Had a little problem with spring compressor (wanted to pull it up crooked) made a longer version with redi-rod and the spare floating top end of spring compressor. Welded a 3/4 nut on the bottom side and had to hook it twice till I got it pulling straight. The official spring compressor was shorter and wasn't hooking as far down as I wanted.
