It should be quicker. I had a 1992 Bonneville SE (5 less hp and 5 less ft lb torque) with the 2.84 gearing, and I could still whoop my buddies old 1995 SLE up to about 50, which really surprised me. You have 3.06 gearing so you should be even quicker yet.
The difference between your two cars is where in the rpms the power is made. The Series I powered 1994 makes it'* power down low in the rpms, but I bet if you got in a freeway duel with your 95 you'd be kissing it'* tails, given both cars are running good.

Wow... if only we could swap the inside of the SLE to the SSE, then it would be perfect!!
