Default Got me a Buick (pics inside)

I was really looking for an Olds 88, around '94, but those are darned hard to come by. It seems that all of the old people who drive them either die and pass them off to grandkids who destroy them, or they get traded in towards something else and the dealer wants an arm and a leg for them. They are just not seen in the papers. So anyway, I expanded my search to the other H-bodies. Weeks went by. Finally I found an ad for a '96 LeSabre Limited, 160,000 miles, for $1700. I went to KBB.com, and it turns out that $1700 is the suggested trade-in value. Private party is $2950 or something. We went out and looked at it, and it looked decent. The paint is faded in places, but no rust at all except for the gas door (quite strange, I think, and I plan to just get a new door for it). The interior is quite clean. The engine and transmission seem okay so far (I'm a bit paranoid about it being a series II, but it had a new intake about 20k ago).

Anyway, here it is. Hope with me that it lives long and serves us well.

Series 2 is the way to go. Just keep an eye on your coolant and enjoy the power

While I have yet to floor it (oddly... it must be that paranoia), it does have as much power at part throttle as my '89 vin C at full throttle. And soooo comfy inside. Dual power seats, auto level suspension... It'* strange, because I was always into performance cars and speed, and now I'm quite hooked on luxury and isolation.

I've been wondering if it'* rare for this car to be Black. I can't say that I've ever seen one in black before this one. It'll be a pain to keep clean, but I must say I love the look of black, chrome, and tint.

Why are you worried about the series II? I love mine, she'* given me no problems at all with 116k on the clock. Something I don't know? PLease enlighten.

Looks good, and very clean inside and under the hood

Whats your beef with the Series II...?

Only things id be nervous about are the intake and torque converter.. and the intake has already been done...

Only thing I recommend that you should change at some point (sooner than later would be better) would be the lower intake gaskets. I did mine at 77,000 miles the first time around and they were toasted. Very bad shape. I did them again at 120,000 and they looked like brand new (used upgraded Felpro gaskets when I did them at 77K). I put on another fresh set of Felpros at 120K so I should be good for a really long time....
