During the initial test drive, as I mentioned, the thermostat housing gasket gave out, the air mix actuator stuck on cold, the end cap gasket blew, and we pegged the temperature gauge when the coolant boiled off. Driving a modded 3800 with zero coolant five miles back to Bill'* and not cracking the UIM (or worse) is a real testament to this motor. Plus, it somehow fixed my hood so that it pops up when you pull the release.

He started lifting the car that way to drain the coolant. I "recognized" the sound and suggested a different location.

BTw I know you had no real reference with it being your first time inside a motor. Here'* a few shots fromthat Regal'* motor. This is what the parts can look like at their best. The rockers we put into your car are the average coloration etc for parts that are heated in oil all the time.

Yes, I did. I put about 800 miles on that first oil change. It drained like coffee. Unfortunately, there was dirt already in my oil pan (I left mine at home), but there were no metal chunks, so I guess we're good. Oil changes will now be every 2500 miles until further notice or my car loves me again.
