WOAH. Damn, that is nuts....its no suprise that noone slowed down, the taillights of nearly every single vehicle were completely obliterated, save for the one in the very back. That is, until that vehicle got hit too. Lather, rinse, repeat....scary stuff. You don't really think enough to turn on your hazard lights after taking a hit that hard, and without the flashing lights, the rest of them probably didn't have a clue what they were about to get into. That corolla driver...wow. I agree with driverjohn, he must have been speeding and making a pass attempt. That guy either has some killer reflexes, or he had some angels looking out for him. Maybe a little of both. And that double-beep noise is the same noise that our department'* motorola walkie-talkies make when the battery is low, and they make that noise every time you let off the PTT button when you're done talking, which is what happened in the video. I know motorola pretty much has a monopoly on Nextel phones, so maybe the low-batt indicator noise on the phones and walkie-talkies is the same. I don't think it was the Nextel 2-way noise though, becasue that gives out a loud single chirp, not the double chirp thats audible in the footage. That doesnt rule out a cell phone, but perhaps the guy talking in the video is a CDOT worker who was in the construction zone, and he had a walkie-talkie? He sounded somewhat professional when he was talking..."Multiple injuries, I need CHP [California Highway Patrol] ASAP! I have multiple people down!". That just leads me to think that he wasnt just a simple bystander. You're probably thinking "Jesus, who cares? Why is he picking apart and dissecting the video this much?" The answer? Probably becasue I'm at work at 3am, and I have noooothing better to do
. I dunno, just my .02
